Joel Manby

  ~ Joel Manby is well known for his appearance on the CBS reality TV series Undercover Boss.
It’s in his book Love Works, Joel Manby introduces us to the power of agape love in the workplace that was showcased on Undercover Boss.

While he was a manager in the auto industry where Joel knew that there had to be a better way of building relationships between managers and workers. 

When he became CEO at Herschend Family Entertainment, he found that leading with love (the verb) is possible at work. To be both loving and accountable; to be profitable and caring; to be effective and be giving.

After leading thousands of men and women, he has proven that leading with love is useful, even in a business environment. Manby challenges leaders to allow integrity and faith to guide leadership decisions, outlining seven time-proven principles that break down the natural walls within corporate cultures, empower managers and employees, disarming difficulties, and cultivate an atmosphere that builds long-term success.

We talked about the SeaWorld transition and the hornet’s nest he walked into. It is a big part of the updated addition of his book.

My takeaway: My conversation with Joel was enjoyable. He is honest, empathetic, and kind. What I liked most was he is a modest man and willing to talk about what he calls failures. I saw it as he did his very best and succeded in an impossible situation.
